UDISE+ Progression Freeze 2026–27: Miss It and Everything Stops

UDISE+PROGRESSIONPUNJABHARYANA

Every year, some schools treat UDISE+ data entry as a last-week rush. Then the progression freeze hits — and promotion records lock with whatever errors are inside. This guide explains what the freeze is, the dates that matter, what breaks if you miss it, and the exact fix sequence.

What the progression freeze actually is

Data Entry→Verification→❄ FREEZE→Locked Records

Before freeze: your school can edit. After freeze: only higher authorities can unlock.

UDISE+ collects student-level data from every recognised school. "Progression" means moving each student to the next class (or marking pass/fail/dropout/transfer). The freeze date locks this promotion data for the year. Corrections after the freeze are possible but slow — they travel up to the block or district MIS officer.

Key dates for 2026–27

MilestoneTypical windowYour action
Data entry opensAugust – SeptemberEnter new admissions, update exits
Promotion markingSeptemberPromote every student class-wise
Progression freeze (Sept 30)*September 30All promotions verified and final
Corrections windowOctober onwardsOnly via block/district approval

*Exact freeze notifications come from your state MIS cell. Sept 30 is the national reference date used in 2026–27 — confirm your district circular. See the full calendar in our UDISE+ 2026–27 Guide.

What breaks if you miss it

⚠ The real cost: wrong promotions lock in → APAAR IDs fail to generate → enrolment-linked benefits stall → and your office spends October running to the block office instead of teaching.
1. Locked wrong promotions

A failed student shows as passed, or a transfer still shows on your rolls.

2. APAAR ID pile-up

Name, DOB or gender mismatches block bulk ID generation for entire classes.

3. Weeks of follow-up

Post-freeze corrections need written requests and officer approvals — plan in weeks, not days.

4. Audit exposure

Inflated or ghost enrolments surface during verification drives and invite scrutiny.

Step-by-step fix sequence

  1. Freeze your internal register first. Lock admissions, TCs issued, and new joiners in your own records before touching the portal.
  2. Promote class by class, youngest first. Class 1 first (check the age-6 rule), then upward. Verify counts against attendance registers.
  3. Clear APAAR mismatches. Match name spelling, date of birth and gender with Aadhaar exactly — the portal rejects fuzzy matches.
  4. Handle exits honestly. Mark transfers with TC numbers, dropouts as dropouts. Ghost students always surface later.
  5. Take screenshots of every submitted section. If the portal glitches near the deadline, proof of attempt protects you.
  6. Submit 3 days early. Portal load peaks in the final 48 hours. Early submission is the whole trick.

How to never rush again (ERP export)

Schools that keep a clean digital register export UDISE-ready data in one click instead of retyping hundreds of rows under deadline pressure. Our School ERP includes UDISE+ export plus APAAR tracking — see city pages like Ludhiana, Patiala, Hisar, Amritsar, Kharar, Sirsa. Also useful: fee reminder templates and the admissions playbook.
